Pray for Erin

Sunday Songs March 16, 2014

In case you hadn’t noticed, in spite of how the world says I should react to the news of my cancer, I somehow seem to have been buoyed up with a calmness, peace and desire to praise God in spite of my circumstances. One of the things I have loved are the songs that have sprung into my head, some of which I haven’t heard or thought of in years. Here are a few of the songs that I sang to myself on my drive back from Chicago this afternoon. It just doesn’t have the same effect to read the lyrics without music, so I found videos you can listen to, most have lyrics in the videos.

Come Ye Sinners:

Before the Throne of God Above:

If I Stand (this one doesn’t have lyrics, you can find them here. I love, love, love this song):

Oh the Deep Deep Love of Jesus:

Oh Erin, If I Stand is one of my absolute favorites. It gives me goosebumps and fills my heart every time I hear it! Looking forward to our time tomorrow.

    Hi Erin,
Walking through difficulty with our focus on the love and faithfulness of our Great God is the best way to go!! We MAGNIFY what we focus on. I stand with you in declaring that God is so much BIGGER and BETTER than whatever the enemy throws our way.

A key verse in my arsenal against the pot shots of the enemy is:
THE LORD IS GOOD AND HIS LOVE ENDURES FOREVER!
This verse is in several places in 2 Chron 5:13, 7:3,6; 20:21, as well as in many Psalms. I think it’s repetition is very important. I also notice that when the people declared the goodness of God, His PRESENCE came and God did awesome things! I’m believing with you for AWESOME things during your surgery tomorrow and in the days to come!

    Blessings!
    Love Maryanne

“God is our refuge and strength; a very present help….”
God’s light shines through you, Erin. Thank you for sharing.

  4. Amanda Ludwiszewski Says:

Erin, When I got my diagnosis last Dec. that I too had cancer, not once did I worry or fear. There has been a constant peace in my “travel” through this disease. I have said and continue to say, that the amount of people praying for me is the reason. I really liked that statement you said earlier about the cancer not being a big thing b/c the BIG thing was already taken care of. I love how God sends people to give a verse just suited for what ever I am going through at the time. He has even sent a person who I did not know prior to all this who has ministered to me in so many ways. As odd as this sounds, I look forward to seeing you at the cancer center. Somehow I feel God has something planned for the two of us, and I admit I haven’t a clue what it might be.
I have had you in my prayers.

Home from a little road trip ourselves. As Sunday night melts into Monday morning, standing with you in prayer & so moved by these hymns. Rejoicing with you in the gospel promises that are so wonderfully communicated through hymns both old & new. May God’s sustaining grace continue to work by his Spirit through His Word, His people, hymns & songs, to keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the founder & perfecter of our faith. “You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock.” Is. 26: 3& 4. Loving you & your dear family from afar, but the Lord is near & loving you even more.

Erin – Listening to these songs this morning, and joining you in prayer. The rest of the fam is praying for you too (I hope there’s still room around the throne..). It’s truly amazing how you are shining through this experience – what a testament to the impact and power of our God.
    Love, Annie F.

    2 Chronicles 20:13-17
“….”Listen, all Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem and King Jehoshaphat: Thus says the LORD to you, ‘Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed at this great horde, for the battle is not yours but God’s….You will not need to fight in this battle. Stand firm, hold your position, and see the salvation of the LORD on your behalf, O Judah and Jerusalem.’Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed. Tomorrow go out against them, and the LORD will be with you.”

  8. Alice Bentley Says:
